What began as a poetic notion of ‘reflecting sky into wood’ has, thus far, stretched into a thirteen-year project. I source the parts of a felled tree, the branches and the twisting boughs, that are overlooked and undervalued. I cherish the provenance of the wood as it gives roots to the work. I split open timbers revealing hidden beauty and narratives which I reflect back and forward through meticulously cut mirrors. In merging these manmade and natural materials and siting these sculptures, both inside and outside, I generate tangible experiences between the viewer, object and the environment.
Following an MA in constructed textiles from the RCA in 2008 I created my first Mirror Tapestry©. More than a decade on these distinctive works have become a signature of the studio and, alongside the range of tableware and Mirror based installations, have found their way into residential, commercial and exterior spaces worldwide.
The studio welcomes commissions, collaborations and conversations. Do get in touch to see how I can bring your project to life.
